BBC News - Church launches government attack
BBC News - Church launches government attack
There has been so much religious and faith related news in the press lately I can't help thinking that the Catholic Church, as well as other religious institutions have mounted a counter-offensive against the rising tide of criticisms of religious beliefs from the scientific community.
I wonder if 2010 is going to be the decade of the Science - v- religion smackdown.
Science will win hands down if it comes to evidence and reason.
religion will triumph if they shout long and hard enough to exasperate the opposition.

Hang on.
Wasn’t Vietnam the one, well the first one, where the American’s should have left well alone?
This is all a bit dodgy. Considering the chaos, atrocities, civilian deaths, the massive anti-war movement.
I can see a big stink happening with this one, with the Guardian and the Independent getting their knickers in a twist. The Times (and the rest of Murdoch’s Mighty Machinery: Sky, Fox etc.) will side with Infinity and put their corporate muscle behind the game, knowing it’ll give them virtually exclusive access to use the game to promote their own products – since the other media would have shot themselves in their ethical foot at the cost of profit.
Why am I saying all this when I’d probably agree with the ‘liberal’ press?

Religious freedom - what are they on about?
So the Pope and other religious leaders are unhappy about equality legislation that prevents them from discriminating on grounds of sexual orientation. They complain about "religious freedom"
"Religious freedom" is am absurdly paradoxical statement. Religions are all about deluded beliefs reinforced by rituals and practices controlled by an archaic hierarchy.
Don't get me wrong I do believe in a Divine Being and the devotional relationship to the Divine, for which we are blessed with happiness in return. But All Religions nowadays are just institutions like any other, with belief systems and oppressive discriminations that do every thing but bring us closer to God and to each other.
